Giles O’Brien-Hartcher

Giles has extensive experience in criminal law, and is a skillful and passionate advocate for his clients.

Giles holds a Bachelor of Economics (SoSc) and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney. He was admitted to practice in 2005, and has extensive experience practicing in the Northern Territory, as well as international experience.

Before joining John Toohey Chambers in 2016 Giles was a Senior Lawyer in the NAAJA Criminal Team, and was Manager of the Appeals Practice from 2011-2014.

Giles appears regularly in the Local Court and Supreme Court, running hearings, pleas and jury trials, committal matters and appeals. He has extensive experience in all criminal matters, including traffic, assaults, drug offences, DVO’s, and all types of criminal law. Giles has run numerous successful appeals, some of which are mentioned below.
