From 1979-1986 John practised at the Sydney Bar doing initially Civil work, in 1984 john was appointed a Civil Arbitrator for both the District Court and the Local Court of NSW by the Chief Judge and the Chief Stipendiary Magistrate respectively. For over 19 years John was employed as a Crown Prosecutor and then Senior Crown Prosecutor with the Office of The Director of Public Prosecutions. John has appeared in all Criminal Courts in the Northern Territory. John has also prosecuted many Supreme Court trials and less frequently, Court of Criminal Appeal matters. John has also appeared in many Justices Appeals and committal matters. John came to the Northern Territory Bar in 2009 and has been practicing criminal law since then. John largely appears on the defence side.
